Ok, first you subtract from the ones. But the 1 ain't biger then the 2 so you have to ungroup. Is 11 bigger than the 2? Yes, now I subtract right and get 9. Is the 3 bigger than the 5? No so we can't subtract. So you have to ungroup. The thirteen is bigger. Then you can subtract. Then you get the hundreds and your answer is 689.
